Most of the times, I don't fix cars myself as I don't have the time and space to do that. However, if situation permitted, I like to get my hands dirty (like I just cleaned the throttle body of my car last week, which was a 40 minutes job but my car responses much better after. ).
When my cars have problems, I always do my researches (if the situation allows) before I bring it to my mechanic. Therefore, my mechanic only charge me labors as I always buy my own parts since I will find out which one is well worth the money. So, even though sometimes I will recommend some parts in this forum which are more expensive, I think they worth the extra cost.
I still have a lot to learn though, but it is fun process.
Oh... did I mention I love cars? :lol:
