我從網上讀到“生死不離”，我流淚，我感動。我的好友申慧輝，她是北大英語專業畢業的研究生，曾任職於中國社會科學院，研究現當代英美戲劇，著名翻譯家、文學評論家，也是哈佛大學的訪問學者。我請她把這首詩翻譯成了英語。她在短短的兩天內譯了出來，她非常謙虛，給我的email是這麼寫的：


Here is the translation of the poem.
Sorry to be so late.
My son George might have it read out at the UBC students' meeting, and Fanfan, I hope can help post it to those websites for more poeple to read.
Structurally, I did some editing to the poem, but I tried my best to keep everything as original as it should. You can find that I did not leave out any important line, only joining the two-line stanza with two repeating lines, and leave out a few repetitious lines.
I do hope Huang Canran （注：黃燦然----香港著名詩人，青年詩歌翻譯家，很驕傲地說一聲，他是凡凡的好友）or any other could improve the translation.

Nothing Shall Separate Us
--Dedicated to the victims in Sichuan Earthquake

Nothing can separate us even when your dream stumbles
Life shall go on though the sky’s lost its splendors
In your dream you stand up free
In my blood deeply runs your plea.

Nothing will ever separate us, by seconds we wait for your news
Life shall go on, together we share this belief and pray
You fill my heart though I’ve lost your sight
Trace of your life is now my guiding light.

I shall find you no matter where you’re trapped
Life will go on for love shall conquer all
I shall find you no matter where you’re trapped
Hand holding onto hand till love unites us all.

Nothing can separate us, the world is holding its breath
Endurance defies tears, love is the ever-lasting myth.
Rainbows will appear after bitter storms
Fearless endeavor shall prove devoted hearts

Mountains can be moved for love conquers all

Fix the sky if cracked for love conquers all

Hi there

My profession is not English. My English is far from good. The only reason I'm using English to reply is that I'm at work and no Chinese input method was installed. I read a lot of very touching poem in Chinese about the earth quake and wanted to share some of them with my coworkers. This poem is one of them. Thanks very much to translate it into English.

I have a very strong feeling when I read the Chinese version; however, I don't when I read the English version. One of the possible reason is that too many "Shall" were used in the poem which not reveal the firm belief of those people. The belief of they can find their relatives/friends, the belief of they can save their relatives/friends, the belief of they will never seperate, AND THE BELIEF OF THEY CAN FIX THE CRACK ON THE SKY! I thought "will" may stronger or better than "shall" in this aspect. for some stronger sentense, we can even remove the "will".

回復樓上的TNND 網友，這首譯詩，當然不能說盡善盡美，譯者很謙虛，她說她不是詩人，音韻方面可以考慮再求流暢。昨夜，我把詩歌發給了香港的詩人，他答應會修改此詩，也歡迎讀者提出意見。謝謝你的點評。
