If your crash happened outside B.C., local laws may restrict any claim you make against the other, at-fault motorist. However, your Autoplan policy's Inverse Liability coverage may pay your vehicle repair bill.
Inverse Liability coverage protects you in the parts of Canada and the U.S. where the law will not let you recover losses from a driver who causes a crash. If you are in a crash in one of these areas, Basic Autoplan will pay the cost of repairs to your vehicle, for as much as the other driver was held responsible.
So, if another driver was 75 percent at fault for a crash that happened in an area where you can't sue, your Inverse Liability Coverage will pay for 75 percent of the repairs to your car. That is the portion of your repairs that the other driver's insurance would have had to pay in B.C.
