3rd Canadian Army Veteran Memorial Ride for the Fallen 2012
takes place on Saturday, June 9, 2012
What:
Media are invited to join the Canadian Army Veteran Motorcycle Unit at the 3rd Annual Memorial Ride for the Fallen to honour the past, present and future of the Canadian Armed Forces. Thousands of supportive community members and friends will gather with their motorcycles to ride for the men and women who sacrificed their lives. This special event gives the Lower Mainland the chance to show their support for our troops and pay their respects. All proceeds raised will go to the Honour House Society.
When:
Saturday, June 9, 2012
Route:
The ride will leave the parking lot of Trev Deeley Motorcycles (1875 Boundary Road), continue on Highway 1 and end at the All Sappers Cenotaph (corner of Vedder Road and Keith) in Chilliwack for a special ceremony.
Itinerary:
Registration at 9:30 a.m.
Custom Bike Presentation to Family of Injured Soldier at 10:00 a.m.
Ride leaves Trev Deeley at 11 a.m.
Ride arrives at All Sappers Cenotaph at 1 p.m.
Memorial Service at 2:30 p.m.
Opportunities:
Visual highlights include over 1,000 motorcyclists riding for the fallen, with support from police, fire and Canadian forces vehicles. Honoured guests include numerous Silver Cross families. A special heartfelt presentation of a custom made motorcycle will be made to the family of a soldier who was wounded in Afghanistan. The bike has been custom made to meet the needs of the soldier. Interviews with a Silver Cross mother are available.
