Job Description:
ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN
A challenging work opportunity in instrumentation and electronics is
available
for an Engineering Technician 3 in the Mechanical Engineering
Department
at
UBC. The Department is active in student teaching and research, and is
looking
for a motivated and capable person to support these activities.
The position will develop electronic schematics, printed circuit boards
and
microcontroller hardware and software; maintain computers/computer
networks;
construct laboratory demonstration equipment; and research equipment
and
repair
and maintain existing laboratory equipment. The position will also
provide
technical assistance to faculty and students and be responsible for
laboratory
organization and maintenance of documents.
The successful candidate will have completed an Electronics, Robotics
or
Instrumentation Technologist program at a recognized technical college
within
the past 5 years. 2 years¡¯ practical experience is preferred,
although
qualified new graduates may be considered. The candidate must exhibit
strong
skills in communication, organization and troubleshooting. Preference
will be
given to candidates who can demonstrate they have completed design and
development projects.
