Job Description:
The Rick Hansen Man In Motion Foundation is a dynamic, fast-paced
organization
whose mission is to accelerate improvements to the quality of life of
people
with spinal cord injury. As an entry level Technical Analyst within a
small IT
team your role will be to provide network administration, technical
support and
application development that answers the information technology needs
of
the
Foundation. This includes: installing, configuring and maintaining
hardware
and software; providing support for departmental computer users;
programming
web and database applications; generating reports; trouble-shooting
network,
servers and e-mail and remaining current with information technologies.
THIS
IS A 6 MONTH FULL TIME POSITION.
Responsibilities include:
• Providing technical support for software applications,
workstations,
servers,
network connectivity and other networked resources.
• Installing, troubleshooting and repairing personal computer
hardware
and
software.
• Providing LAN/Exchange administration.
• Maintaining user account and security consistency.
• Managing backup systems.
• Assisting with network and systems administration and creating
system
maintenance scripts as necessary.
• Monitoring IT systems, desktop devices and other field devices to
identify
and reduce security vulnerabilities, monitoring and investigating virus
reports.
• Assisting in the facilitation and reporting of security
vulnerability
assessments and information security incidents.
• Building and maintaining positive relationships with staff and
external
resources.
• Tracking and documenting computer hardware, software and systems
work
to
ensure that all Foundation equipment and networks are clearly described
and
defined to permit effective future maintenance.
• Designing, developing and maintaining new and existing web/database
applications in support of the RH SCI Network.
• Assisting with the construction and maintenance of the
Foundation¡¯s
website.
• Migrating data between various RDBMS platforms.
To be considered for this position you will be a graduate of a computer
system
technology program (or similar) and will have experience in a work
environment.
You must have the following experience, skills and abilities:
• proficient at troubleshooting standard PC Desktop/Laptop HW &
Peripherals,
Pocket PC/ Palm OS PDA¡¯s and Blackberry Handheld Devices.
• strong HTML and PHP skills with general C++ programming knowledge.
• thorough understanding of Windows 2000 Operating Systems, MS Office
Suite, MS
Project, IE, and Adobe Acrobat.
• Experience with installation, configuration and maintenance of
Windows
based
PCs/laptops in an enterprise network environment; experience with
Windows
Servers and Active Directory LAN administration.
• Have an understanding of the Network/ Server environment and all
aspects of
the IT Infrastructure relative to workstation usage and configuration.
• Familiar with security/vulnerability platforms, such as; Software
Update
Services, McAfee VirusScan, ePolicy Orchestrator and Firewalls.
• Familiar with SQL and Crystal Reports.
• Ability to work quickly to research and resolve technical issues.
• Ability to provide end-user training on HW & SW usage.
• Ability to communicate technical issues effectively, both orally
and
in
writing with users, vendors, peers, and management.
• Ability to work well under pressure, prioritizing and managing
multiple
assignments, while maintaining high work standards.
• Strong telephone skills and excellent customer service skills are
essential.
