Reporting to the Supervisor, Administrative Accounting, the Corporate Administrative Accountant will be a senior member of the Vancouver administrative accounting team with three direct reports and will be responsible for overseeing the accounts payable function and the related ledgers processed at head office. This position also has a close working relationship with the tax department, legal department, and treasury department to ensure timely receipt and completion of information required for financial reporting.
[b]Responsibilities [/b]
Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
Prepare monthly Administration and General Expenses schedule for the senior management booklet
Prepare monthly reconciliations for assigned balance sheet and intercompany accounts
Prepare quarterly directors’ fees and
Assist with preparation of annual financial statement notes
Prepare information for annual corporate tax filings and other statutory reporting
Review and post standard monthly accrual journal entries
Review and approve monthly/weekly filing of sales taxes and non-resident taxes
Assist in the preparation of the annual general and administrative expenses budget
Assist the Supervisor Administrative Accounting and Manager Technical and Corporate Reporting with any ad-hoc analysis or projects
Supervise staff, including allocation of duties and job loads, evaluation of staff, performance and salary reviews, training and selection of staff for hiring
[b]Qualifications[/b]
A recognized accounting designation (e.g. CPA)
A minimum of 5 or more years of progressively responsible experience for a major company or division of a large corporation in the accounts payable function
Intermediate to advanced Excel skill level with the ability to use pivot tables and VLook up
Understanding of how to set goals and prioritize tasks in order to achieve business results
Understanding of internal and external audit process and ability to ensure all accounting and finance processes are auditable
Possess good organizational skills in order to manage multiple stakeholders concurrently
Understanding of time sensitivities and competing priorities
Clear communication skills, using judgment and discretion
Ability to efficiently learn and use software tools and applications to support role
Ability to track, monitor and resolve pending issues
Ability to delegate effectively; recognizing where additional resources and/or technical assistance may be required
Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and the ability to apply the accounting theory to day-to-day accounting.
