Reporting to the Manager, Procurement, the Digital Systems Buyer will manage the execution of purchase orders, the contracting and onboarding/off boarding process for time and material consultants, and the IS shipping process on behalf of Teck IS. The incumbent will work in conjunction with Digital Systems buyers at distributed Teck sites and educate distributed sites on Teck IS purchasing practices. The incumbent manages the daily activities of the Teck Information System’s purchasing and account allocations across all sites. The role demands close working relationships with vendors, project managers, and managers in the Teck Digital Systems Services group.
Responsibilities:
· Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
- Reviewing purchase requisitions for accuracy, completion and price competitiveness
- Converting purchasing requisitions to purchase orders within Microsoft Dynamics AX and delivering purchase orders to Teck Digital Systems (TDS) vendors
- Obtaining 3 competitive quotes for purchase requisitions over $50,000
- Contracting, onboarding/off boarding consultants
- Coordinating the intercompany shipments of IS hardware between sites
- Working with and maintaining constructive relationships with all stakeholders in the purchasing process
- Ensuring ethical purchasing procedures are maintained
- Evaluating our vendors and co-ordinating purchasing activity within the enterprise
Qualifications:
- University degree in finance, management or business and 3 years’ experience.
- Demonstrate an ability to manage in a matrix oriented organization across multiple time zones and multiple business units to deliver value and customer satisfaction to all clients
- Established record as an TDS procurement officer. Understanding the business practices of TDS vendors and the vendor landscape. Is acquainted with project managers in distributed teams and understands the technical requirements
- Advanced trouble-shooting and diagnostic skills are needed to solve a broad range of complex problems related to information services procurement. A thorough understanding of shipping terms (Incoterms 2000) to deal with international shipments.
- The incumbent requires strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with project managers and TDS Managers throughout Teck. Incumbent must effectively work with employees in all departments of the organization for the procurement of TDS goods and services.
- Essential to manage time demands and prioritize work when supporting the purchasing, contracting and shipping functions
