PART I
在我讀大學的時候，經常到校外的幾條街道去吃小吃。有一對父女引起了我的注意。父親做煎餅，女兒烤紅薯。她長得其實不算太漂亮，但打扮得整齊幹淨，一條馬尾辮，說話嗓門很大，卻又很甜。臉色紅潤，做事幹淨利索。和別的擺攤的人不同，閒時總拿本書看，而別人要麼聊天，要麼去打牌。我仔細瞧了瞧她的書，竟然是我非常熟悉的高中課本。
我於是經常去她那買紅薯，其實我並不喜歡吃。後來漸漸有些熟了，就乘著她不忙的時候和她說話，才知道她高中上了快兩年，母親身體不大好，她家弟弟妹妹又多，只好輟學和父親出來打工。她很羨慕我能夠讀大學，雖然她很愛學習，但是現在即使考上了，也難去讀。她想攢點錢，以後有機會再去爭取。她現在基本上把高二的課程學完了，但沒有高三的書。
