省長尹大衛（David Eby）宣布今天是BC省紀念溫哥華拉普拉普日（Lapu Lapu Day）節致命襲擊受害者的哀悼日，並 “采取措施確保此類暴行不再發生”， 紀念活動之一是下午 5 點 10 分在溫哥華聖玫瑰大教堂舉行的彌撒。
在哀悼日的今天，襲擊案的嫌疑人將於今天下午出庭受審。
在此之前約三個小時，該案的嫌犯、30 歲的Adam Kai-Ji Lo將在省法院出庭受審。
BC省檢察院稱，Lo的律師要求將出庭日期從之前預定的 5 月 26 日提前到今天。
Lo面臨八項二級謀殺指控，警方表示預計還會有更多指控。

組織上周六拉普拉普日活動的菲律賓 BC 組織的阿基諾（RJ Aquino）表示，政府將這一天定為哀悼日表明了這場悲劇在該省和該市歷史上的重要意義。
阿基諾說，溫哥華社區得到溫哥華市政府、省政府和聯邦政府以及世界各地的支持。
