另從聖地牙哥野生動物園野生動物保護區分享的畫面中，可見象群在周一聖地牙哥郡發生的規模5.2地震時，迅速組成所謂的“警戒圈”，據聖地牙哥動物園野生動物聯盟表示，這種行為是為了保護幼象及整個族群免受潛在威脅。
