婚姻早已失和疑為保險殺妻
檢方指，被告是妻子100萬美元人壽保險的唯一受益人，形容兩人婚姻早已失和。辯方則主張桉件屬「突然且無法解釋的死亡」。
沃爾什此前已就誤導警方及非法處理遺體2項罪名認罪，承認將妻子肢解並棄置於垃圾箱，他辯稱是發現妻子死於床上後驚慌失措所為。他另被判證人恐嚇罪19至25年、非法棄置遺體罪2至3年，須與終身刑期連續執行。
宣判前，死者胞姊向法庭陳述家人所承受的巨大創傷，表示因無遺體可安葬，家屬難以真正哀悼。她說，3名孩子將在沒有母親陪伴下成長，人生每個重要時刻都將感受到缺席的痛楚。目前3名子女由政府監護。
